Since it’s surrounded by water, you’ll reach this destination by boat. Tortuguero National Park protects many miles of marsh, as well as important nesting sites for green sea turtles. Other species of sea turtle, including huge leatherbacks, frequent the area. The canal is a popular place to rent a canoe or a kayak and spend an afternoon looking for caimans and sea turtles. It’s often possible to spot birds and monkeys in the trees near the shore.
During your stay you’ll have access to a swimming pool that overlooks the canal. You can wander the hotel gardens, which showcase this area’s tropical flowers. Go to the spa and sign up for a variety of massages and skin treatments, and visit the fitness room for a relaxing workout. Rain is frequent in this part of Costa Rica, but you can walk from one area of the hotel to another via covered walkways.
The hotel and the rooms are designed to be fresh and bright, with dark furniture and tropical accents. All of the rooms have air conditioning. You can access the Wi-Fi from anywhere in the hotel. You’ll have access to a private boat during your stay, so you can easily navigate the waters that surround the hotel.
The restaurant here serves fresh Caribbean food, and all of your meals are included in your stay. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
Every room at Manatus Hotel comes with a private terrace or patio — this outdoor area comes with a shower. Rooms have air conditioning and satellite TVs. Guests can help themselves to the minibar. These rooms have lovely queen-sized beds with canopies and comfortable linens.
The packages include lodging, three daily meals, a tour of Tortuguero town and a tour on Tortuguero canals. Stays of two nights or longer include an additional tour on the canals.
Very nice hotel. This is the smallest hotel of the area but very nice place! And you have air conditoning. Restaurant is good, nothing exceptional but taking into account that you are in the middle of nowhere, everything was good! Rooms are spacious and very clean!
Such a beautiful place and wonderful staff. Loved that there were only 12 bungalows, very private and not touristy like the other lodges. The private kayaks that we could use for very nice as well. It's the only lodge with air conditioning and definitely worth the extra money and definitely necessary after a long day in the sun.
The Manatus was absolutely awesome. The hotel-provided transportation from San Jose was excellent with a friendly guide. It's "cozy" (which we like... only 12 rooms). The rooms & grounds are very nice, saw tons of wildlife at the lodge and on the tours, the staff was friendly, and the food was fantastic.
