The lodge, hand constructed with local wood by the Aleman-Fajardo family, is an ideal jumping off point to discover the Osa Peninsula. Trails have been forged through the primary and secondary growth of the Casa Drake property where rivers, waterfalls, and an abundance of wildlife can be explored.
Visitors are a twenty-minute hike from the considerable old growth forests of Corcovado National Park and an hour hike on nature trails to secluded beaches. The park is one of Costa Rica’s most likely places to spot rare and endangered animals including tapirs, jaguars, scarlet macaws, harpy eagles, red-backed squirrel monkeys, and White-lipped Peccaries.
From this bed and breakfast, guests can utilize the knowledge of a Costa Rican family who has lived in the area for over forty years to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities. Some packaged tours and adventures include Corcovado National Park guided tours, Cano Island Biological Reserve tours, diving, horseback riding, canopy tours, bird watching, dolphin and whale watching, sport fishing, and night tours.

The family is quite nice. Their English was very limited as is my Spanish so there were some communication barriers. Freinar, an English speaking friend of the family, had dinner with me each night so that helped with communication. However, staying with the family was a very good way for me to practice my Spanish
