Hotel El Pelícano is a cozy hotel a short distance outside of Cerro Chirripó National Park. This park has several different elevations where visitors can take long hikes.

From the hotel, you’ll have great views of the Talamanca mountain range as well as Mount Chirripó, which is Costa Rica's highest point. Hotel El Pelícano is in San Gerardo de Rivas, a small town with its own set of attractions, including a hot spring called Aguas Termales. This town also has a few restaurants you can try. When you’re ready to take a hike in Cerro Chirripó National Park, you only have to take a 6-minute drive to the entrance to the park. This park is home to rare animals including tapirs and jaguars.

This hotel’s common areas have a display of wooden sculptures. The hotel restaurant serves traditional Costa Rican food as well as some vegetarian options, and a free breakfast is included in your stay. There is a polished indoor dining room as well as an outdoor seating area.

Guests can go for a dip in the free-form pool. There’s also a small children’s pool and an area where you can barbecue. There is a path on the grounds of the hotel that will introduce you to some of the area's interesting wildlife.
