The El Silencio property is a vast 555-acre (225 ha) reserve with over 247 acres (100 ha) of primary rainforest that includes many old growth trees including the Ceiba, Trumpet Tree, and Guarumo. The El Silencio Mirador also offers extraordinary views of the Arenal Volcano at the Mirador lookout. El Silencio Mirador is located in the high risk zone because of its close proximity to the Arenal Volcano, it is an area where new construction is not permitted but for the last 40 years it has been a safe place to observe the volcano and admire the spectacular view.

The 7 hot springs of Los Perdidos range in temperature from 76 to 98 degrees. They are surrounded by rainforest vegetation and flowering plants, and they sit just 328 feet (100 m) from the locker rooms. The path from the locker rooms is called Heliconia Walk, and it is paved with over 150 different species of Heliconias. At the center of the Perdidos Springs, guests will find both a bar and monkey slide.

The Lagunas Springs are found at the base of the main hotel building. These 12 hot and cold free-form pools range in temperature from 83 to 103 degrees. They are surrounded by lush landscaping and sitting areas. The Laguna wet bar is available for guests wishing to quenche their thirst and enjoy a tasty beverage while in the pool.

Traveler Comments

We had a professional guide; Juan Carlos who was an expert in this area. We learned so much about the area and eco systems. We enjoyed the guided hike with the hanging bridges, the hike to the waterfall and hike to volcano base. A full day of activity, every moment was so great! We had the best time and thanks to our guide Juan Carlos for making this even more special.
