You can choose a self-guided or guided tour of Místico Park’s carefully preserved forest. This nature walk lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and can be guided or self-guided.

If you opt for a guided tour, a professional naturalist will be able to tell you the names of the plants and animals that make their home near the base of the Arenal Volcano. This version of the tour typically takes a little longer since you’ll want to stop and observe some of the plants and animals. There are over 350 species of bird over 700 species of plants, so you’ll see something new no matter where you look. Along the trail you’ll take in expansive views from 6 hanging bridges.

There are a couple of optional stops on your tour. You can visit the Rufous Garden to see exotic flowers and hummingbirds. There’s also the Morpho Waterfall, named after the bright blue butterfly that flits around this part of Costa Rica.
