The Sacred Seed Sanctuary protects a massive diversity of plants, many of which are threatened by climate change. This is part of an effort to create 10,000 seed banks worldwide, in order to combat the constant lost of species caused by deforestation. At this location, you can see a collection of over 300 tropical plants.

Experience Highlights
This guided tour takes you on a two-hour exploration of lush gardens. These gardens specialize in Costa Rica’s many medicinal plants. Your guide will fill you in on these plants’ important uses in traditional treatments of a wide variety of ailments.
You’ll follow a path through different sections, which are divided to reflect Costa Rica’s cultural heritage. There’s an Afro-Caribbean section, an indigenous section, and a European section. Don’t worry about the terrain – your guides will provide you with rubber boots so you won't get muddy.
