On board, you’ll learn about Costa Rican culture through an on-board folk music performance, by musicians wearing folk costumes. Your guides will greet you with a welcome cocktail, to help get you in the festive spirit of the tour. From the upper deck of the bus, you’ll have an impressive view of the city as you make your way down the busy streets.
As you drive, you’ll learn more about the National Monument, which commemorates Costa Rica’s resistance to a Nicaraguan takeover in the 19th century. You’ll learn about Costa Rica’s independence at the Democracy Plaza, which the city built to celebrate its 100-year independence anniversary in 1989.
This tour also comes with stops to admire the pinnacle of Costa Rican art. The National Theater is one of the pride and joys of the city – its lobby is decorated with an opulent display of 19th century decadence. You’ll stop by the Gold Room in the Art Museum, and see more of all that glitters in the Gold Museum. Your group also stops at the Central Market, where you’ll get an idea of a traditional Costa Rican shopping experience.
At the conclusion of your tour, you’ll stop for dinner at a traditional Costa Rican restaurant. This gives you a chance to know San Jose a little better through its cuisine. Try a little bit of everything and ask any questions about San Jose culture that might have come up on the tour.
