If I Need Medicine, Can I Easily Get It in Costa Rica?

Yes. There are pharmacies in destinations all over the country. They are open usually from 8 AM to 6 PM but might be closed during lunch; in some towns the pharmacy is also closed on Sunday.

The majority of medications — with the exception of antibiotics and heavy pain killers — can usually be purchased without a prescription. Many pharmacies have doctors on site or can help you get in touch with a doctor if you are not sure what medicine you need.
