When You Explore Together
Don’t miss out on the night tours, as they were a fantastic way to see a lot of wildlife you never see during the day, including many species of frogs, snakes, and birds.
It was so easy to plan…
After reviewing Anywhere.com's comprehensive/extensive website and the menu of offerings, both for hotels and activities, it was easy to plan a trip tailored to what we wanted to see and do. I was assigned Jessica Carvajal – she was extremely responsive and helped me plan a great trip to Costa Rica. This trip turned out to be action-packed and so fulfilling, because we love nature and wildlife. We will *definitely* return again.
The highlight of our trip was...
The Safari Float was definitely a highlight of our trip. We had Hector as our guide, and he was very knowledgeable, knew English very well, and was accommodating. The river was very peaceful with a minimal amount of current. Hector did most of the paddling but called out instructions when required, to bring us closer to a sighting of animals. We floated down the river for approximately 1.5 hours, during which we had the opportunity to see some of Costa Rica’s famous wildlife. The boat trip down the Penas Blancas River offered a relaxing way to enjoy the abundant wildlife surrounding the banks of this lush paradise. The only complaint — it all ended too soon!
Don’t miss out on night tours!
We went on “The Owl Quest” in Lomas Del Volcan, and we really lucked out as this tour was private — just the two of us! Our guide for the evening was Oscar, who was full of interesting insight and always willing to go the extra mile with picture taking, and providing fun ways of introducing and explaining all of the wonderful things we encountered, including lugging around a telescope! It was highly evident that he was passionate about sharing his knowledge (plenty of it!) and exemplified the warm welcome and friendly personality that is trademark to the Ticos. I have no idea how Oscar managed to sight these birds, but we saw a crested owl, a speckled owl, and a black and white owl. This tour was perfect for us and I highly recommend it to bird enthusiasts!

Arenal Volcano National Park
The Arenal Volcano National Park packs all of Costa Rica's allure into one place: incredible hiking, magnificent views, abounding wildlife and the country's most active volcano. Hiking and horseback riding tours allow you to get up close and personal with this incredible area, which encompasses close to 30,000 acres (12,000 ha) and extends into eight different life zones. Overlooking everything is the imposing Arenal Volcano which sits right inside this wonderful park.
La Fortuna Waterfall
Located just 6 km outside the town of La Fortuna, this stunning waterfall provides visitors with a wonderful place to swim and relax. Situated at the base of the dormant Chato volcano amidst a thriving rain forest, the location for this waterfall couldn't get any better.
Penas Blancas River
Known as the "white water gem of Costa Rica's Atlantic slope", the Penas Blancas River runs right through the Tilaran Mountain Range in north central Costa Rica. It then converges with the San Carlos River east of the Arenal Volcano.
Lake Arenal
Lake Arenal, lying adjacent to the Arenal Volcano in the Northern Lowlands of Costa Rica, is the country’s most spectacular lake. With the magnificent Arenal Volcano to the east and rolling hills and forested slopes all around, the scenery couldn’t be better. Add to that a number of activities that includes world-class windsurfing and sailboarding, fishing, kayaking, bird watching and more, and you have the makings for a spectacular destination.
Curi-Cancha Reserve
The Curi-Cancha Reserve is located in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Created in 1997 from a plot of private land, this reserve extends across 237 acres (96 ha) and helps protect both primary and secondary forests. It’s also one of the area’s best birding sites.
